01.17.25 Whale Counts
A day of the Pacific TEEMING with life! for our first trip we caught up with a southbound Gray Whale, and around 500 Common Dolphin. For the second, we saw some coastal bottlenose, a juvenile Humpback Whale, 2 Gray Whales and around 400 Common Dolphin. The variety pack of whale watching and it was picture perfect for conditions and weather. We are so excited for the days to come with this much wildlife in San Diego.

We had a beautiful morning out on the ocean, with calm water and lots of sunshine. It didn’t take long to locate a south bound gray whale. We followed it for a little bit, but this one was a bit shy and didn’t come up often. Showed us some beautiful fluke dives though. Next we encountered a very big pod of common dolphin, much to the delight of our passengers. They surfed the waves of the boat, jumped out of the water and even spy-hopped. All in all a perfect tour.

January 17, 2025. Afternoon cruise. Fantastic day with perfect weather and calm seas. A full boat was treated to spotting bottlenose dolphins in the bay and then sighting two whales immediately upon leaving Mission Bay. We first followed a juvenile humpback whale and then moved on to watch a juvenile gray whale, and a bit farther south, an adult gray whale. We finished the day amidst a feeding pod of 400 or so common dolphin and scores of birds.
