02.16.24 Whale Counts

What a Day! Started off today on our first trip with amazing weather and ocean conditions and got to catch up with a very friendly pod of Pacific White Sided Dolphin that swam all around the boat. Such a great thing to get to see these seasonal visitors and are a personal favorite animal we encounter.
On our second trip, undeterred from not seeing a whale on our first trip we made it far out to the west to the extent of our range and were rewarded! We found four Humpback whales and a pod of easily five hundred Common Dolphin! It was a frenzy of tail flukes, stampeding dolphin but the highlight was shutting our engines off while a pair of curious humpbacks came right up to the boat to check us out! These whales got very close to the boat and were extremely friendly!
