02.17.25 Whale Counts
Today was a beautiful day out on the water with a total of 5 different cetacean species seen! On our morning trip, we encountered multiple different pods of very acrobatic common dolphins! We then caught up with a large mixed group of Rissos dolphins and offshore Bottlenose dolphins! On our way back in from the morning trip, we caught up with a pair of southbound gray whales, ending the trip on a high note! The sun came out for our afternoon trip, and we found another pod of common dolphins, as well as another southbound pair of gray whales and ended the trip with a little juvenile humpback whale! It was a great day President’s day with 5 whales seen, 2 different species of whales: grays & humpback, 3 different species of dolphins: rissos, bottlenose & commons, and multiple mola mola!
